Jeux et enjeux économiques du conflit israélo-palestinien, mercredi 4 avril 19h

A l’occasion du Speaking Tour 2012, le réseau universitaire FFIPP propose d’aborder le conflit israélo-palestinien, encore contemporain, à travers les jeux et enjeux économiques qui l’animent.

Interdépendance, Emancipation, Occupation sont tout autant des questions d’actualité, même si moins traitées, au coeur du conflit israélo-palestinien. De la bande de Gaza aux colonies en passant par Ramallah et Jérusalem, comment vit une économie sous blocus, une économie sous occupation, mais surtout une économie de dépendance entre territoires voisins ? Quelles opportunités pour un entrepreneur palestinien ? Quels accords d’échange entre Israël et les territoires ?

Deux invités d’exception avec des parcours professionnels et personnels uniques seront présents pour nous aider à dessiner ensemble la situation actuelle :
- Ibrahim Shikaki, professeur palestinien à l’Université d’Al Quds, Jérusalem Est.

- Itay Epshtain, israélien, ancien directeur excécutif d’Amnesty International et co-directeur d’Israeli Commitee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD).

La conférence aura lieu en anglais et sera suivie d’un temps d’échange avec les invités.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is often understood through a political or religious prism and is put aside the true sway of economics. The 2012 FFIPP Speaking Tour addresses the issues underlying the enmeshed economies of both nations, from the economy of occupation and its cost to the question of a viable and economically independent Palestinian State. Economics are a focal and central point to be addressed to fully grasp the dynamics of the Israeli and Palestinian conflict as well as being an interesting looking glass into the future of the peace process.

In Paris, on Wednesday 4 April, in partnership with Sciences Po Monde Arabe, two guests will help us to tackle this situation :

- Ibrahim Shikaki, Profesor of Economics at Al Quds University, Consultant for NGO International Humanitarian Law

- Itay Epshtain, Co-director of ICAHD (Israeli Committee Against House Demolition)
Ex-Director of Amnesty International

The conference will be in english. Debates and questions will follow.
